ORIGINALLY established as "Western," January 16, 1742, from parts of Brimfield, Hampden County, Brookfield, Worcester County, and Kingsfield, or New Marlborough. A part was annexed to Ware, February 8, 1822, and another part to Palmer, February 7, 1831. The name of the town was changed to Warren March 13, 1834. Population at different periods: 1765, 583; 1776, 827; 1790, 899; 1800, 979; 1810, 1,014; 1820, 1,112; 1830, 1,189; 1840, 1,290; 1850, 1,777. Population in 1905, 4,300.
