The date of the establishment of Hull is not definitely known. On May 20, 1642, according to the Mass. Records, Vol. 1, page 5, a report of a committee was made to the General Court concerning the allotment of lands at nantaskeet.

May 10, 1643, Nantasket was again memtioned as being within the shire of Suffolk. On September 7, 1643, a former grant to "Nantascot" was confirmed. On May 29, 1644, it was ordered that "Nantascot shall be called Hull."

May 26, 1647, Hull is mentioned as a town.
