November 1735; from April 1737 through 1738 preached often at Amh. and Southampton; after long negotiations he finally accepted a call to be an organizing pastor at Amh. on September 28, 1739; was ordained at 1st Ch. November 7, 1739, received a large tract of land at West Amh. that had been a wide Proprietor's road, and the first meeting house was built near the pastor's farm; owned a negro slave at one time, a large man named "Pomp", he speculated on land in Fairlee, VT 1761 along with many others at Amh.; as of January 1777 he was still a Tory sympathizer, although he seems to have been free to come and go; he was often paid in cord wood and other goods which he could barter in a cash short economy.
